Where to learn

It is important to create right circumstances for the kids to teach a language. When they enjoy it they learn it. It is important to let them touch, experience, feel, and enjoy. You can decorate your classrooms, your corridors, your basic fun places, and your gardens as well. So here some ideas for you on how to make your school more available for the language learning. Here we go:)

This is one of the English zones in our school. Kids know they will enjoy a lot when they enter in the mysterious world of English. This is not teacher-made decoration yet we can adjust it.

School is where you spend most of your time. It is like your second home both for you and for your students, so why don't you make it as comfortable as your home so that you and everybody enjoy spending time in it. This is our school garden. Thanks to our art teacher it is now colorful and fun for spending time with the students.

This is a separate and open area in our school. We decorated it with different boards and we created a marine concept. Now this area is ready to have great fun and learn. We put some games and puzzles on the table in the middle  of the room so the students spend time playing those games in their break time.

This is how I designed one of my classroom. These are the target vocabularies of the month. The colorful ones are target verbs, and there are the days to repeat on the blackboard. We organize our lesson plans accordingly. In every warm up we prepare an activity to revise those vocabularies. The ice cream is the rules of the classroom. Kids learn very quickly because in every break time and in all the lessons they can see, read and repeat all of them.

Door decoration is the essential part of having fun at school. If you want to welcome your students or to create an awareness into a new topic you can decorate your classroom doors accordingly. Here are some ideas for door decorations. They were prepared by me and by my colleagues.

                                             Incy wincy Spider
Do you know Incy Wincy Spider chant?  Our students love it and they learn it quickly. If you decorate your classroom according to the chant they will acquire  it and they will learn very quickly.
I enjoyed while I was preparing the classroom doors. Students were surprised when they first saw the doors and they loved.

                                                              Happy New Year!
We as teachers found a way to make our days as enjoyable as it can be. Through the New Year we prepare  a wishing tree and hang our wishes for ourselves on that tree. Look! Fantastic, doesn't it? It makes us feel better and positive throughout the New year. You should try it :)

                                                      Healthy or Unhealthy
Door decoration is essential part of language learning at early ages as I mentioned before. If you integrate door activities into your lessons kids will  enjoy your lesson as well. You can decorate your doors with giant faces and tongues. you can stick the related vocabularies such as yucky, delicious, yummy, disgusting around the tongue. You can give them small strips of paper and divide them into healthy and unhealthy groups and they write the foods accordingly on the strips. After an oral practice let them go out of the classroom and stick their strips on the correct tongues on the doors. then give them templates about healthy and unhealthy foods and let your students write the correct vocabularies on the templates.

                                                                 Farm life
Life on a farm sounds great. This idea is generally appealing for our students. They can milk the cows as well. All you need to do is to prepare a cow out of a box and 4 water bottles.(bottles are for legs) use plastic (surgery) gloves to milk the cow. (Put some milk in the gloves and use needle to let the milk come out as your students milking the cow:) It sounds enjoyable doesn't it. My kids enjoyed the activity a lot. You can prepare a farm background so you can take many pictures. if you have any chance to visit a real farm and milk a real cow It would be much more enjoyable. you can revise chunks and vocabularies about farm animals and have fun.

                                                                 It is Time for Tea
We have a tea party to get the students know each other better. So Let's join us. All you need to to is to create a conceptual background and tea cups and some cookies. you can let your parents about the tea party and ask them to send some cookies to school to share. You can also decorate your tea party area with teddy bears, cushions and with some other toys. You can prepare some icebreaker games to play with the kids while you are having your tea. This is a very effective way of engagement for the first week of adaptation. Have a great year.

                                                          Let's Get Together
This is get together time bulletin board inside the classroom. We change this board monthly according to the topics. We teach idioms, plurals and question-answer activities by using this board everyday as warm up. activity. Students liked to get involved in learning. They changed the days and the months and the weather conditions accordingly everyday themselves. It is fun and efficient to decorate the classroom according to teachers' and students' needs.

It is an essential part of  language learning. Kids like to look at the boards while they are spending time in the corridors. You can arrange your boards according to your students in-class works or projects. You can pin or stick their works on your bulletin boards so that students have chance to see what they've already created. Chronicles

Teaching and learning is a life long experience              Teaching abroad was a great experience for me. I had chance to meet with different kids in different countries from primary to high schools. I had chance to observe music, drama, art, spanish and language classes.         USA Florida Chronicles                                                         1)  Pasco County Primary   This was a language class in a primary school in Pasco. It was a vivid classroom. Everywhere was full of language stuff. Teacher used every empty place on the walls with the students' creative works. They could see every new vocabulary, every work that they'd done and every picture related to the subjects. Whatever they did was hung on the walls right at that moment. Students felt precious so they were more eager to create and join the activities. They were so cute. Congratulations.
